Mind and Matter – Selected papers of Nordik 2009 Conference for Art Historians

This volume brings together eighteen authors, various multidisciplinary methods, and a large selection of essays on a wide range of topics from medieval Madonna sculptures to Swedish design. These contributions deepen our understanding of material culture and religion, creativity, architectural criticism, and the historical aspects of identity, culture and politics. The essays showcase ways in which thoughts, beliefs, ideas, religions, and political ideologies – material and immaterial culture – need to be challenged and analysed from critical points of view.
