White-Collar or Hoe Handle

Seppo Sihvonen's study examines from the standpoint of the British Colonial Office and Protestant missions how African education policy relates to the political and economic structures behind colonial policy in the period concerned. Based on archival sources, the study gives abundant new data and a previously unclarified general picture of British education policy in Africa as seen from the mid-level of colonial administration.
