This study examines the political narrative of European integration as a project which aims to construct Europe as a unified spatial entity. More specifically, the study explores the Europeanization of spatial planning by investigating the adaptation of "EU"ropean spatial discourses and norms in the regional policy practices, such as strategy work. By combining the geographical understandings with the concept of Europeanization, the study seeks to bring to the fore the politics of space and scale involved in European spatial planning. The empirical material of the study mainly consists of regional political texts in which the frameworks of spatial planning and development policies are (re-)defined and (re-)articulated.
