The Chakhar dialect is one of the major Mongol dialects spoken in Inner Mongolia, China. It is a particularly important dialect, since the standard pronunciation of the Mongol language in China is based on it. The dissertation presents a systematic description of all the major morphological properties of the dialect. The dissertation is based on the dialectal materials collected from Chakhar by the author since 1993. The methods used in the dissertation belong to the framework of standard descriptive, comparative and diachronic linguistics.
