Russia Takes Shape

This book endeavours to answer the question - what holds Russia together? The contributors to this volume examine the complex relations between regions and the central power, both secular and religious, including co-operation and conflicts, co-existence and tensions, understanding and misinterpretations. The studies included in this book deal with various political, administrative, economic, and cultural structures that reinforced the unity of Russia from the Middle Ages to the present.
