Yksityiskohdat
This paper presents the development of depositional palaeoenvironments and related processes of the interlobate Säkylänharju-Virttaankangas glaciofluvial and glaciolacustrine complex in SW Finland. The study is based on a synthesis of deglaciation history, geomorphology, sedimentology and abundant subsurface data from groundwater investigations. Annual esker fans formed repeatedly within a headward extending, interlobate, glaciofluvial calving bay. The deposition of the esker fans was followed by prolonged ice-contact deposition related to the retarded retreat of the ice terminus position post-dating the climatic cooling during the Preboreal Oscillation.
